CHIEF Inspector Jeoffer Banglayan took his oath on Friday, November 30, as the new officer–in-charge of the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (LTMPS).

The oathtaking came after outgoing Chief Inspector Benson Macli-ing relinquished his position following orders from the regional and national office.

Benguet Provincial Police Office Director Lyndon Mencio spearheaded the turnover ceremony for both police officers.

Mencio said Macli-ing is an inspiration and pride of the Benguet Police Office with the arrest of numerous wanted persons, likewise, resolving pending cases, and his engagement with the community.

He added that the outgoing officer has made history, after the police office was chosen as the best municipal police station nationwide.

“As we all know, officers come and go, orders came so sudden, just this morning, I was informed of the relief. All of us, it came as a surprise since being a policeman and a soldier, we just follow orders, we immediately do the orders given to us,” Mencio said.

Mencio expressed optimism for Banglayan to refine the good foundation of the municipal police station.

Banglayan, from Sagada, Mountain Province who served as a staff of the Police Regional Office Cordillera for four years, asked the members of the LTMPS for their support.

“For the past years, I’ve been asking if I have a position like this but it didn’t materialize because my mindset is that I’m contented on staff works, however, here comes November 27 when I was about to lecture at Mt. Province, I was stunned and surprised because they informed me that I would be the incoming in-charge of LTMPS,” shared Banglayan.

“At that time, I didn’t have the appetite to eat, maybe, because of this big challenge ahead of me. I followed the order. To the members of the LTMPS, I just hope and pray for your support just like the support that you bestowed to my classmate,” he added.

Meanwhile, Macli-ing, in his speech, told the incoming head of police to continue the programs, projects, and activities in the valley.

To recall, members of the Liga ng mga Barangay and Municipal Council have asked the possible service-extension of La Trinidad Municipal Police Station Chief Inspector Benson Macli-ing.

Through an approved resolution on October 26, 16 barangay captains of the Benguet capital town also expressed the same request to the Cordillera police regional director.
