Illegal gun holders, gamblers nabbed in Cordillera

OPERATIVES of the Police Regional Office Cordillera arrested 11 gun holders, operators and gamblers during the two-day monthly simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operation (Sacleo).

The police arrested a barangay tanod and four other gun owners in a separate police operations.

During a checkpoint, Joseph Delara Santos, 51, barangay tanod of Santor, Rizal, Kalinga was arrested in Balabag East on November 27 after failing to show the license of his cal. 38 revolver loaded with three ammunition.

Through the implementation of search warrant, four more gun holders were separately nabbed in their respective residences on November 28.

The arrested individual were identified as Ramon Tadeo Balaoro, driver/farmer and a resident of Macarcarmay, Bangued, Abra; Thomas Gabit Simangon, a resident of Lower Sakakang, Bacarri, Paracelis, Mt. Province and Brendo Pumus-an Apatas y a.k.a. Makli-ing, a resident of Taloctoc, Tanudan, Kalinga, all of legal ages.

Confiscated from their possessions are homemade gauge 12 shotgun, one caliber .45 pistol with magazine containing six ammunition, three assorted magazines, 36 assorted ammunitions, 24 pieces fired cartridge of M16 rifle, and three assorted holsters.

During the two-day operation, 32 assorted firearms, six high power explosives and assorted ammunitions were surrendered to police personnel.

Meanwhile, seven operators and gamblers were arrested while playing card games on November 28 in the provinces of Abra and Kalinga.

The arrested operators were Michael Rosales, Jamar Cabilio, both residents of San Francisco, Dagupan West, Tabuk City, Kalinga, Michelle Fucates, and a resident of Solana Centro, Cagayan and Vincent Baquiran, a resident of Tumauini, Isabela.

They were caught in the act of managing Ping-Pong games at Dagupan West, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

Confiscated from their possession were two Ping-Pong tables, gambling paraphernalia and bet money amounting to P4,800 in different denominations.

The arrested gamblers were identified as Hilda Osana, Jensen Villastiqui, and Elizabeth Benabesa, 52, all residents of Sitio Sukob, Brgy. Bacsil-Angad, Bangued.

They were nabbed in their residence that led in the confiscation of one set of playing card and bet money amounting to P167.
