Uy sizzles in Datba

ELIMINATIONS leader Uree Uy lived up to his billing by beating his finals rival enroute to clinching the Datba November monthly finals tournament at the SM Lanang Premier Bowling Center Sunday evening, December 2.

Twice-to-beat Uy toppled Darius Beloy, 182-165, in just one game of their step-the-ladder championship showdown.

Beloy grabbed the runner-up honors instead while Art Galendez placed third and John Red Sia came fourth in the monthly tournament that serves as qualifying for the annual grand championship.

In the eliminations, Uy, with a 35 handicap, hit a total of 1,243 pinfalls after six games to take the first spot of the step-the-ladder finals. Galendez, with a 21 handicap, finished second after rolling 1,219 pins while Beloy took the third spot with 1,197 and Sia fourth (1,190).

No. 3 Beloy edged No. 4 Sia, 194-191, before routing No. 2 Galendez, 207-139, to set up a title clash with Uy.

They received cash prizes and trophies.

Gab Gab Velasco was top qualifier while Galendez copped the highest singles qualifying title and Sia annexed the highest singles finals title.
