Giant Lantern Festival Executive Committee Chairperson Engr. Alex Patio said that the Giant Lantern Festival is the grandest festival the City of San Fernando has ever conceived as it made millions of people around the world aware about it.

“There are only few days left for the event we are all proud of the Giant Lantern Festival competition. We are excited for you all to experience once again the back-to-back Giant Lantern Festival we prepared for you. I really hope that you all continue to support San Fernando’s big event,” Patio said.

For his part, Mayor Edwin Santiago stated that the Giant Lantern Festival will continuously preserve Kapampangan culture, and continue harnessing the talents of each lantern maker in the city.

“These talents would promote businesses among lantern makers. Lantern making is such a huge gift, for it made City of San Fernando earn its ‘Home of the Giant Lanterns’ and ‘Christmas Capital of the Philippines’ titles. These titles gave a whole lot of meaning to us, making us proud Fernandinos. Without this skill and creative minds of these lantern makers, we’re not going to have giant lanterns. The lantern makers are the people behind who formed our branding -- to be number one in lantern making,” Santiago said.
