MISS Top of the World-Plus Size 2018, Charlene Pagayon Rosco bested the contestants around the world as she took home the Miss Top of the World-Plus Size 2018 at Iloilo City Hall Monday, December 3.
After winning the crown, the Ilongga beauty wants to campaign against bullying and discrimination by being an inspiration to others through helping them build their self-confidence.
“Bullying, siguro it’s normal in the society and then ang approach is that, absorb it,” said Rosco.
The discrimination she received was never a hindrance to pursue her passion and goals not only as a beauty inspiration but also, an instrument to help other people. She believed that the primary solution to overcome bullying is self-acceptance.
“So, indi ka magkabalaka kung amu na ang ginahambal nila kay (So, you shouldn’t be anxious if they discriminate you because) you know yourself better than other people so just show them that you can inspire everyone and you can make changes,” she said.
As a “plus-size” ambassadress, Rosco wants to inspire other people who have the same experiences with her, and to help them build up their self-confidence.
“You have to inspire people, you have to continue to inspire them to believe in their self nga ma achieve nila tanan regardless of size, gender, and color,” she added.
Rosco has established a small charity for the indigenous tribes in Iloilo City. She said that in this way, she can project an image to encourage the public to help others even in their own little ways.
“You cannot save the world but you can be an inspiration so that other people can help out as well,” she said.
