MEDVIL Black hacked out back-to-back wins in the Acosta Cup 2010 20/20 9v9 Football Tournament at the Tionko football grounds on Saturday.

Medvil Black blanked Medvil Blue, 9-0, before beating University of the Philippines (UP) Alumnae, 4-1, in the ladies tournament co-presented by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte and Davao City Councilor Mabel Sunga-Acosta.

Scoring for Medvil Black's rousing win opposite Medvil Blue were AC Concordo (first minute, 10th, 25th, 33rd), Wowie Satorre (16th), Analou Ingles (28th, 39th) and Nina Arrieta (30th, 36th).

Against UP Alumnae, Medvil Black scored through Concordo's hattrick while Ingles added a goal. UP Alumnae's Roselyn Quidlat knocked in a goal in the 14th to avert a shutout.

In other matches, the Lady Knights overwhelmed Holy Child, 3-0, while the UP Varsity forced the Philippine Women's College (PWC) to a scoreless draw.

Medvil Black led the current team standings with four wins, followed Lady Knights (3-0-0), UP Mindanao (2-1-1-), PWC (1-1-1), and Holy Child (1-0-2).

Matches will resume on Saturday. The event is sponsored by RDL Pharmaceutical Lab Inc., Jollibee JTC Davao and MY Hotel. It is being held in coordination with the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office. Noel Presto is tournament commissioner. (MLSA)
