A TOWN official was killed in a gun attack by motorcycle-riding assailants in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, a police official said Tuesday, December 4.
Senior Inspector Ryan Wakat, police chief of Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur, identified the fatality as Romeo Mainar, Sr., a councilor in the municipality of Sominot of the same province.
Wakat said the incident occurred around 12:10 p.m. Tuesday in the village of Bobongan, Ramon Magsaysay town.
He said investigation that Mainar was driving a motorcycle on the way home when shot by one of the two men riding on another motorcycle that tailed him.
The police official said the town official sustained eight gunshot wounds and died on the spot.
He said they still have to identify the motive and identity of the suspects, who sped off after the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
