MisOr P3.42-B budget awaits approval

THE Misamis Oriental provincial board is likely to approve the P3.42-billion budget for 2019 before the capitol's legislative body takes a Christmas break on December 17.

Board member Gerardo Sabal on Monday, December 3, said local legislators did not slash any provision of the budget, saying it is "achievable" and "manageable".

He said they will wait for the Annual Investment Plan (AIP) before it passes the budget.

"Hopefully during the last session ma-approve ang budget kung mapanday na ang annual investment plan,” Sabal said.

"Nag-coordinate na kita sa Department of Budget of Management (DBM) regarding sa requirement sa annual AIP kay naa may rekisitos nga molabang sa provincial development council,” he added.

The P3.42-billion budget proposed by Governor Yevgeny Emano is nine percent higher than the current budget.

Sabal said the legislative branch is amenable with the budget as they find it achievable with locally sourced income like the real property tax and other taxes excluding the internal revenue allotment.

"Nalantaw namo nga igo gyud ang budget sa 2019,"Sabal said.

Sabal has reiterated that the biggest allocation goes to social services, health care through MisOr Cares, tourism-related infrastructure projects and education.

He said the number of IKNB (Iskloar Ko Ni Bambi) beneficiaries will increase next year.

"Gusto nato ipadayon ang pagserbisyo sa mga kabus nga mga kaigsoonan,"Sabal said.
