City gov’t gives relief aid to fire victims

THE Zamboanga City Government distributed relief goods and food packs to families displaced by fire on Sunday, December 2, at Calle 11 in San Jose Gusu village.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar led the distribution of relief, held Tuesday afternoon, December 4, as part of the city government’s continuous support and assistance to persons in crisis situation.

Socorro Rojas, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) chief, said that the 59 affected families received food packs composed of rice, noodles, sardines and bottle water.

Earlier the city government, through the CSWDO, also provided food packs, mats and cooking utensils to the fire victims.

Meanwhile, Rojas said her office is set to recommend the grant of cash assistance to the affected families as soon as assessment and validation is finalized.

A man who stabbed dead his neighbor perished while a fireman was injured during the fire that happened on Sunday, at Callel 11 in the village of San Joe Gusu.

The Bureau of Fire Protection reported that some 15 houses were razed with damage to properties estimated to have reached P1.3 million.
