ORMOC City Mayor Richard Gomez has lauded his administration officials and employees following the numerous awards received by the city.

“Our city received plenty of awards. The secret? Just do your best in your department and awards will surely come. While we’re in the government service, let’s do our best,” said Gomez.

The city will be vying for the Presidential Award for the Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities in Malacañang Palace on December 5, after it bagged the “Seal of Child-Friendly Governance 2017” in the region.

Earlier, the city received climate leadership award for pushing climate action and renewable energy, a national award in organic farming, local legislative award, and an award on community-based rehabilitation program, among others.

Gomez himself also received an award for being “a role model in serving humanity as a strong advocate for local governance” by the Rotary International in 2017.

This year, the Office of the Ombudsman recognized Ormoc for implementing and maintaining a system “that confronts to the ease of doing business standards for blue certification scope.”

Also, the city was awarded 2nd place for best in e-governance for local government units in the Digital PH Awards.

Ormoc has been known as the “safest” city in the country, the first city to be declared “drug-cleared,” and the “richest” in the entire Eastern Visayas.

Meanwhile, Gomez urged city employees and department heads to work together to achieve their target.

“If you’re able to hit your target for this year that means your grade is satisfactory. If you’re able to do better than your target, then you become very satisfactory,” said the mayor.

He also warned that two unsatisfactory ratings will be a basis for an employee’s removal in his position.

“That’s one way of protecting the local government unit,” said Gomez as he pushed his workforce to do their best for them to receive their other rewards. (SunStar Philippines)
