MISAMIS Oriental provincial board member President Elipe on Wednesday, December 5, said he is mulling a resolution urging the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary to look into the “disappointing" road projects in the province.
Elipe said he was dismayed by how public engineers execute road repairs and widening projects in the province especially those works affected by electric posts and trees.
Officials of the DPWH in Northern Mindanao and Misamis Oriental Electric Cooperatives 1 and 2 appeared before the provincial board during its regular session on Monday, December 3, to explain how they worked as regard to projects affected by poles and electric posts.
But Elipe said he was disgusted with the two institutions which appear to be "pointing fingers".
"Ang electric coop gaingon dili sila kaibot sa poste kay wala sila kwarta unya ila kuno kuhaon gikan sa DPWH unya ang DPWH pud dili kuno kahatag kay wala kuno ka-submit og list nga verified sa National Electrification Administration (NEA)," Elipe said.
"Mura sila og gatinulora nga walay makaibot tungod sa compensation," he added.
The provincial legislators have asked the two entities to sit down and fix the problem.
Elipe said there must be lack of planning and budgeting before project implementation.
He also urged them to review the agreements between the electric cooperatives and DPWH regarding the matter.
"Disgusted and disappointed na gyud ko kay nagpaklaro lang nga wala silay klaro nga planning. Nakalimot sila nga they are public servants over and above they being engineers," Elipe said.
Elipe brought the issue before the plenary after noticing this "practice" of the DPWH in implementing road projects which have hampered traffic flow and caused inconvenience to the public.
"Walay mo-take responsibility kung kinsay angay tulisokon kung naay disgrasya involving kining mga poste," Elipe said.
"Ultimately magpasa mi og resolution address to the DPWH secretary or congress nga tan-awon nila ni kay dili masabot ang ilang trabaho," he added.
