DAVAO City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) urges the motorists to refrain from giving alms to beggars especially to children caroling on the road.

CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude said during the Ispeak press conference that they have prepared an advisory for motorists discouraging them in giving alms to beggars since it can cause accidents and also a violation to City Ordinance 0334-12, section 155-158 or "Pedestrian Duties and Responsibilities."

"Atong huna hunaon ang safety sa mga motorista ug kining mga bata, (We should keep in mind the safety of the children)," Abude said.

He noted that the idea to refrain giving money to the beggars is to decrease the number of those begging along the roads.

However, he added that instead of giving money to a beggar, he is encouraging the motorists to give their donations to City Social Service Development Office (CSSDO) and Department of Social Work and Development (DSWD).

Abude added that the advisory is still up for approval by the City Administrator.
