A MUNICIPAL councilor of Manay, Davao Oriental was arrested by Task Force Davao personnel at a checkpoint at Sitio Licanan, Barangay Lasang, Bunawan District after drug paraphernalia were recovered from his possession upon entering the city.
TFD commander Colonel Nolasco Mempin identified the suspect as Councilor Eugene Rhoy J. Balante, 27, married, a resident of Purok 6, Central Manay, Davao Oriental.
Seized from him were three pieces of empty sachets with a residue of suspected shabu; two pieces improvised glass tube, two pieces lighters, and one piece improvised needle.
Balante was apprehended on Wednesday afternoon while the 1st squad of Lasang Detachment, Task Group Lawin was conducting a checkpoint.
Based on the report, the suspect was onboard a color gray Private Utility Van (PUV) bearing plate number LGW 896 coming from Manay, Davao Oriental and heading towards Davao City.
During the inspection, the suspect was requested to show the content of his black sling bag placed beside him where the illegal items were found.
Balante and the items were already turned over to Bunawan Police Station for proper disposition and cases are being readied against him. JCR
