CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- This city’s famed Parul San Fernando or Christmas lantern will adorn the stage of Abu Dhabi University’s auditorium, according to a statement from the Embassy of the Philippines in Abu Dhabi.
This, as the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) led by Ambassador Hjayceelyn Quintana, in cooperation with the Bayanihan Council, will hold a Christmas Chorale Concert dubbed Paskong Pinoy sa Abu Dhabi (Filipino Christmas in Abu Dhabi) at the Abu Dhabi University Friday, December 7, 5 p.m.
The event will feature the choirs of the three Philippine schools in Abu Dhabi and top Filipino chorale groups in the UAE. Angelic voices from The Philippine School (TPS) Woodwind Instrumental Ensemble, Philippine Emirates Private School (PEPS) Chorus, and The Philippine Global School (TPGS) Choir will be heard during the first part, while the Filipino Christian Church (FCC) Choir, St. Mary’s Filipino Community Choir (Dubai), and Abu Dhabi Concert Chorus (ADCC) will serenade the audience during the second part.
Christmas lanterns were specially flown in from the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, and will adorn the stage of the Abu Dhabi University’s auditorium to amaze the audience with their spectacular kaleidoscope of lights and colors, and to complement the talents of the chorale groups.
The event also takes special meaning as the occasion will also be an opportunity for the Filipino community to show its solidarity with the UAE in its celebration of the Year of Zayed, marking 100 years since the birth of Sheikh Zayed, the founding father of UAE who united the Emirates and brought his nation to new heights.
A book featuring a compilation of significant quotations of Sheikh Zayed translated to Filipino will be unveiled by Ambassador Quintana.
Furthermore, a video presentation featuring long-time Filipino residents across the Emirates will be shown. The featured Filipinos will share their fondest memories of Sheikh Zayed and the UAE; their experience upon their arrival to UAE and their views on how the UAE has changed their lives for the better.
