Servania to train in China for US fight

ONE-TIME world title challenger Genesis Servania will set up camp in China for his US ring return in January of 2019. The 27-year-old Servania will hook up with former ALA trainer Franklin Albia for his training cup in China.

“I will be training in China, and Franklin Albia will be my trainer there,” said Servania, who’s being trained by fellow former ALA boy Mark Gil Melligen at the Kashimi Boxing Gym in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecure in Japan.

“I will train there because there are a lot of sparring partners,” he said.

Albia is now based in China and is the trainer of world-ranked Chinee boxer Can Xu.

Servania’s ring US comeback is scheduled on Jan. 12 (US time) at the Convention Center in Tucson, Arizona in one of the undercard fights of World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight champion Oscar Valdez’s title defense against Adoni Gago.

Servania, however, wouldn’t divulge yet who he would be up against but said that he’d be fighting a Mexican.

Servania, who has been based in Japan for three years, fought twice this year. He scored a sixth-round knockout of Jason Butar Butar in Quezon City and then destroyed Carlos Carlson in three rounds.

Servania, ranked No. 1 in WBO and No. 5 in the International Boxing Federation (IBF), is 32-1 with 15 knockouts. EKA
