MORE than 1,000 coaches joined the four-day seminar for the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet at the Cebu City Sports Center. The Regional Training and Accreditation for Sports Coaching seminar is a requirement for coaches who will be in the Cviraa.

The Cviraa meet is set in Dumaguete City in February next year where the top athletes clash for the right to represent Region 7 in the Palarong Pambansa.

Francis Ramirez of Department of Education (DepEd) Cebu City Division said this is an annual seminar as part of the requirement for the Cviraa coaches.

“There were more than 1,000 participants in 23 different events. The participants are coaches for the Cviraa, and some divisions also sent their representatives,” he said.

The seminar, which was organized by the DepEd regional office, was spearheaded by the tournament managers and expert coaches in their respective fields.

The Cviraa meet is for the elementary and secondary students. The sporting event has been dominated by Cebu City for the past two decades.

The events in the Cviraa are archery, athletics, arnis, badminton, baseball, basketball, billiards, boxing, chess, football, futsal, gymnastics, pencak silat, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, lawn tennis, volleyball, wrestling and wushu. RSC
