260 vendors allowed to sell in streets

AROUND 260 sidewalk vendors were allowed by Ancillary Services Unit (ASU) to sell in the streets of Davao City.

"Gina-allow namin sila ngayon na mag double side, meaning harap-harapan sila (We are allowing them to sell at both sides, meaning they face each other selling their stuff)," ASU officer-in-charge Paul Revildo E. Bermejo said in a phone interview with Sunstar on Friday, December 7.

Bermejo said the vendors are allowed to sell in Ilustre, San Pedro streets, and R. Magsaysay avenue.

He added that there are around 180 vendors in San Pedro, 30 in Ilustre and 50 in R. Magsaysay avenue.

Bermejo said the vendors started placing their stores on the last week of November and the areas will be cleared on December 31, 2018.

He said there will be no additional vendors, since the areas mentioned are fully occupied.

Bermejo is reminding the vendors to be responsible in their area in terms of cleanliness and to give space for the people who walk in the sidewalk.

He added, however, that Victoria Plaza management prohibits vendors to sell in the pathway of the mall since it is being renovated and developed.
