FOR their innovative practices on labor and management relations, two companies were awarded Gawad Linaw Awards in Mandaue City.

A.D. Gothong Manufacturing Corp., was hailed as the winner for the large company category while Cebu Furniture Support was named as the champion for the small business category.

They brought home a trophy and a cash prize of P50,000.

During the awarding ceremony held on Friday, Dec. 7, at the Oakridge Pavilion, Mandaue City, Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna challenged the stakeholders to create more champions for industrial peace in Mandaue City.

In his Facebook post, Fortuna said the council believes that industrial peace is essential to the sustainable growth of every business and the local economy.

Healthy labor-management relations

The Gawad Linaw Award is a project of the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council-Mandaue City (TIPC-MC) in partnership with the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).

Mandaue is home to more than 10,000 businesses. The Gawad Linaw Awards seek to recognize and acknowledge the efforts of companies and to encourage social partners to continue the drive of enhancing labor and management relations.

The TIPC believes that efforts have been exerted by both labor and management in both organized and unorganized establishments at the plant level to prevent disputes, maintain sound relations, and improve the level of productivity and workers’ satisfaction.

The nominees were judged according to the following criteria: employee-management relationship (30 percent), state of labor-management relations and dispute resolution strategies (30 percent), productivity program (30 percent), and corporate social responsibility and accountability (10 percent).
