Ex-village official, 8 others nabbed in Zamboanga anti-drug ops

NINE drug personalities, including a high-value target and a former village official, were arrested while some P54,700 worth of illegal drugs seized in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City, the police reported on Sunday, December 9.

Senior Inspector Shellamie Chang, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) information officer, identified the arrested drug personalities as the following: Arnold Agraviador, 40; Latip Magasa, 38; Balli Asari, 42; Aries Genturales, 23; Richie Malonzo, 33; Joselito Parilla, 50; Arsinon Asnong, 32; Carlito Agustin, 26; and, Ading Baladji, 32.

Magasa is the Top 2 drug personality in the village of Sangali, east of this city, while Asari is a former village councilor of Limaong. Parilla is a retired soldier.

Chang said Agraviador was arrested in a drug bust around 2:40 p.m. Saturday, December 8, at Martha Drive in the village of San Jose Gusu.

Confiscated from the possession of Agraviador were some P2,000 worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” packed in five plastic sachets and P200 marked money.

Magasa and Asari yielded some P35, 000 worth of suspected shabu packed in 10 plastic sachets and P200 marked money when arrested around 1:06 p.m. Saturday in a drug bust at Seaside in the village of Sangali.

Genturales was caught in possession of a sachet of suspected shabu worth P200 and P200 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 2 p.m. Saturday at Zone 1 in the village of Maasin, this city.

The arresting team of policemen recovered from the possession of Malonzo some P8, 000 worth of suspected shabu packed in five plastic sachets and P300 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 1:10 p.m. Saturday at Corporation Drive in the village of Canelar Moret, this city.

Chang said Parilla was caught in possession of some P3, 300 worth of suspected shabu and P300 marked money in a drug bust around 4:30 p.m. Saturday at a cockpit in the village of San Roque, this city.

Chang said Asnong and Agustin yielded some P4, 200 worth of suspected shabu packed in four plastic sachets and P200 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation at Sitio Asinan in the village of Sta. Catalina, this city.

She said that some P2, 000 worth of suspected shabu packed in one small and one medium size plastic sachets and P300 marked were seized from the possession of Baladji when arrested around 5:55 p.m. Saturday at Zone 4 in the village of Kasanyangan.

She said the arrested suspects were detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them.
