THE University of San Carlos (USC) School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Design (Safad) launched its nationally distributed art and architecture magazine “Lantawan” last Saturday, Dec. 8.
The magazine is known for showcasing unique cover page designs. For its upcoming issue next year, the magazine’s cover page features an ivory tower made out of piled books. It is built among “real” buildings, symbolizing the university’s endeavor toward recognition outside the school building among representatives of the industry, government units and religious people.
The upcoming issue features graduates who are now practitioners in the industries they belong to, and explores the stories of how they realized their talents. Some were present to share their thoughts during the event. The upcoming issue also has a series of articles focusing on Contemporary Art and Architecture in the Visayas, highlighting establishments like Hotel Sheraton in Mactan and the new building of Casa Gorordo.
The layout of the magazine was specially designed for millennials, as each student of USC-Safad will have a copy.
“Lantawan” editor-in-chief, Br. Bela Lanyi, SVD, encouraged the Fine Arts students to read the magazine, as it is filled with informative and inspiring stories from practitioners in the industry. He added that the academe should be utilized and must have a great impact on society.
The Metrobank Foundation covered the launch of the 2019/1 issue and the event was hosted at Casa Gorordo Museum.
“Lantawan” is available in selected bookstores nationwide.
