Letter to the editor: Why ban students in internet cafes on school days?

I WOULD like to complain about the policy of not allowing minors at internet cafés during school days.

The Regulatory Complaint Board (RCB) of the city has been very strict in monitoring internet café’s.

During school days some students need to go to the internet shops for us to encode projects and assignments or do research because not everyone has computers and internet connections at home.

Some do not have the facilities to email, photocopy or print. I am a student, I also experienced excusing myself from class to encode and pass my requirement for a subject but I can’t find any computer shop that will allow me to use their unit because I am a student.

In our house we don’t have internet access that’s why I use the facilities of internet cafés.

I hope that the government will allow some of the internet cafés to let students use their units even if regulated like only for encoding, printing, searching and emailing and not on online and offline games.
