THE Don Bosco Boys Home (DBBH) continued its exemplary run in the Boys 18 division of the Aboitiz Cup to set up an exciting finale against Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu at the Cebu City Sports Center on Dec. 16.

DBBH blanked Paref-Springdale, 6-0, in the semifinals for its fifth straight win to remain as the only undefeated team in the division. Ateneo, which defeated the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. final last October, lost to USJ-R in the group stage before battling back to make it to the semis as Group B’s No. 1 team.

On the other hand, DBBH--which has kept its core of players for years--won all four group stage matches, scoring nine goals and conceding only once in a tough group that also had the University of Southern Philippines Foundation, Don Bosco Technology Center and Abellana National School-Pomeroy.

Meanwhile, the semifinal matches of the men’s division will be played on Dec. 12 at 6:30 p.m. still at the CCSC.

Reigning Cesafi champion University of San Carlos-Queen City United will take on sister team Don Sacredale-Queen City United in an intriguing match-up of young squads, while Leylam FC will face Makoto-Rising Sun in the other semifinals.

USC-QCU tapped youth standout Enzo Ceniza for their Aboitiz Cup campaign, while Don Sacredale also has former Manila-based standougs Nikko Villacin and Leonard Tan in their fold. The winners in the semis will face each other in Sunday’s final, which will be played after the Boys 18 final and after the parade of winners of the other divisions of the annual Aboitiz Cup. (ML)
