BACOLOR -- The administration of outgoing Governor Lilia Pineda has utilized some P16.16 billion for the implementation of various programs in the province from 2010 to 2018.
Governor Pineda made the disclosure during her acceptance of the Doctor of Public Administration (Honoris Causa) conferred by the Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University where she also presented the summary of her state of the province address.
The governor said that the funds were sourced from the internal revenue allotment of the local government unit amounting to some P13.06 billion, and income from local sources amounting to P3.45 billion.
From the said funds, P5.4 billion was spent for the administrative expenses of the provincial government, including the funds for the personnel and employee services, and other operational matters.
Some P3.5 billion was also downloaded to the various infrastructure programs implemented by the provincial government all over Pampanga during the said eight-year period.
The provincial government’s health services and social services, which are flagship programs of the Pineda administration, also had the big chunk from the said funds amounting to some P2.01 billion and P1.8 billion, respectively.
The education sector also received P1.2 billion utilized for scholarship grants and awarding of assistance to schools to ensure the improvement of quality of education received by students.
Some P453.8 million was utilized for disaster management programs in the province, resulting to Pampanga being hailed as the regional Gawad Kalasag Hall of Fame for five consecutive years from 2012 to 2017, and the country’s best in disaster preparedness and response this year.
The employment and livelihood sector also received some P367 million while P436 million was spent to ensure maintenance of peace and order, and P146 million for solid waste management.
Programs for agriculture, fisheries, and livestock services, Kapampangans’ main source of livelihood, also had an allocation totaling to some P67.6 million for the past eight years.
Meanwhile, the provincial government’s aid to local government units totaled to P852 million, wherein the two cities and 19 municipalities directly received P713 million, and the 505 barangays received P139 million.
