Marvil: Land use, housing and urban planning

TO AID the City Council in the delivery of quality legislation relative to the needs of the people particularly on urban planning, land use and housing, Councilor Edgar Avila has scheduled a public consultation on December 20, 2018 at the PFVR gym, Upper Session Road from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Avila, who is also the chairperson of the said committee stated that there is a need to gather the barangay kagawads in the city to educate, inform and equip them with knowledge and understanding of both national and local laws pertaining to the said matter. He added that the said consultation aims to address the problems of the people from the very core or from the grassroots level and provide an environment for the committee to introduce programs as well as to answer queries of the constituents of the City of Baguio.

Meanwhile, with the expected influx of tourists this coming holiday season, Councilor Edgar Avila also wants the immediate re-opening of Kennon Road. The alderman has filed a resolution requesting the Department of Public Works and Highways DPWH-CAR to expedite road clearing and rehabilitation works at Kennon Road in order to open it to light vehicles for additional access to the city during the yuletide season. Avila stated that there is always heavy traffic anytime of the day or night at the two access roads to the city via Marcos Highway and Naguilian Road.

Though Kennon has been closed for quite a few months now understandably for safety of the motorist due to threats of landslides or calamities, Avila quantified that this is the right time to consider the reopening of the said road at least to light vehicles to ease up traffic in Marcos Highway and Naguilian Road since the rainy season has already ended.
