THE Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) is expecting an early influx of passengers for Christmas holidays.

"We are expecting basin mas musayo-sayo pud karong tuiga it’s because of the early proclamation of Christmas vacation of students (We are expecting that the passengers will be earlier this year because of the early Christmas vacation of the students)," DCOTT head Aisa Usop said in an interview with SunStar Davao Tuesday, December 11.

Usop added that they are expecting 50,000 to 60,000 passengers will flock to the terminal this season since the number of bus trips will also increase to 1,000 to 1,200 trips from 700 to 750 trips during regular days.

She added that other adjustments that DCOTT will be doing during peak season is the opening of the terminal’s other entrance to avoid congestion at its main entrance.

The authorities will also be adding personnel to ensure the safety and security and to cater to the needs of the passengers, Usop added.

She also advised the members of Southern Mindanao Bus Operator’s Association (SMBOA) that the time intervals of bus companies will be changed during peak season to let the buses depart immediately as long as the passenger’s capacity is reached.

Usop said SMBOA gave its commitment that it will accommodate the passengers during this season.

She also advised the passengers to observe the first come-first serve basis so that there will be proper order in the terminal.
