Help desks set up in Oro ports, terminals

THE City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office has installed public assistance help desks in ports and terminals in the city as part of the security plan this Christmas season.

The help desks are established to help tourists and passengers in their journey. The desks will have officers of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, City Risk Reduction Management Office, Roads and Traffic Administration, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and the Philippine Port Authority.

City Councilor Romeo Calizo, chairperson of the committee on police, fire and public safety meanwhile said security measures in the city for the holiday season is already in place.

Calizo said deployment of police in different parts of the city is set. He urged policemen to be alert and aggressive in keeping the city safe.

"We also hope mapangitaan og pamaagi nga maplastar sa visible nga dapit ang ubang mga police station sa dakbayan kay adunay ubang opisina sa police nga atoa nahimutang sa ikaduhang andana so medyo bikil sa katawhan ug posibleng makalangan sa pag-responde," he added.

The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) urged the public to be vigilant and to report to authorities immediately if they notice suspicious activities.

The city's police force also advised families who plan to take vacations during the holidays to install proper security measures, such as Closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) in their houses to prevent thieves from entering their properties.
