TARGETING millennials who want top quality cars for their money, Chinese-owned British brand Morris Garages launched three of its units in Cebu on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Valarie Lu-Borja, sales manager of Morris Garages-Cebu, said that they are expecting a positive reception in the local market because of their competitive prices.

“Our advantage among other car brands is our price positioning. We’re more affordable compared to other brands,” she said.

The units--the MG 6 sedan, the MG Zs crossover and a low sports utility vehicle (SUV), RX5--have prices that range from P868,888 to P1.2 million.

Morris Garages-Cebu is targeting millennials who are willing to spend their money, not only because of the visual value of the vehicle, but also its performance.

“Because of the looks, it’s very elegant and stylish, and the price is very affordable, most especially for the young professionals who’re just starting to make a living,” she said.

Asked how they can compete with tested brands, Borja said that with the technology of MG, car buyers cannot go wrong with investing in their brand.

“That’s always the dilemma of the public because the brand hasn’t been tested in our market yet. But I can assure them that it has been in the market for a long time. The technology and the design is made in the United Kingdom, so you know that it’s durable,” she said.

Borja said that although they are still new to the Cebuano market, their maintenance parts will be easy to acquire because of the satellite manufacturer in Shanghai, China under the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (SAIC).

Six more units under the MG Brand will be introduced to the Philippine market next year. (JOB)
