Letters to the editor: On banning Angkas

Startups like Angkas & Uber are trying to provide solutions to our country's traffic problem yet our government law prohibits it. Instead of shutting down these alternatives, why can't we fix and adjust the broken government system? - Mark Aranaido

On minors enjoying night life

As a student who commute day and night, I get to pass by at some night bars in the city. I know it's normal to see a lot of people who go in there but I always get shocked when I see minors. They are easy to spot as some of them are wearing their school uniforms.

At such young age, they're already enjoying the city’s night life inside the bars and some are even smoking. I think it's against the law. Aside from that, those inappropriate activities may result to teenage pregnancy because drunk girls can easily be taken advantage.

I hope parents will be stricter in guiding and checking their kids especially at night.

Second, those establishments should also be held liable for it. They must ensure that their customers are already of legal age. They must not let those minors enter their establishments.

Third, our local government must also take a look at this. They must monitor the bars found in the city ensuring if there are minors in them. This must be given importance. I hope that our barangays and the city government will find time to solve this because it's really a serious issue. - Rosajoy Estrada, Liceo de Cagayan University
