Village officials to submit list of firecracker zones

THE City Government of Bacolod urged the barangay officials to submit the list of their identified fireworks display areas for the holiday season.

Executive Assistant Ernie Pineda, head of the market coordinating and monitoring task force, held a meeting with the barangay officials and members of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) at the old city hall on Thursday, December 13.

Present were 43 barangay officials, Pineda said, adding they discussed the Executive Order No.28 issued by President Rodrigo Duterte, providing for the regulation and control of the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.

“Last year, most of the barangays submitted the lists of their identified fireworks display areas and we are hopeful that they will comply it this year,” he said.

Pineda pointed out that the barangay officials have a big role in helping the local government and the implementing agency to enforce the law.

Once they submitted the lists, Pineda said that the area will be inspected by the BCPO and Bureau of Fire Protection for its approval.

He added the residents can use firecrackers like baby rocket, bawang, el diablo, judas belt, paper caps, pulling of string, sky rocket, small triangulo at the identified community fireworks display areas while they can only use the pyrotechnics devices within their house like butterfly, fountain, luces, roman candle, sparklers, whistle devices, among others.

Violators of Executive Order No.28 will be fined P20,000 to P30,000 or an imprisonment of one to six years.

Pineda disclosed that the barangay officials also signified to distribute flyers to use the identified fireworks display areas to avoid penalties. (MAP)
