Woman loses P2-M worth of jewelry, cash to robbers

OVER P2 million worth of jewelry and cash were carted away by unidentified men at Barangay 9 in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, December 11.

Superintendent Jonel Guadalupe, city police chief, said the 40-year-old victim, whose name was withheld upon her request, left their house late Tuesday afternoon.

When they returned home the following day, they discovered that the sliding window at the back of their house was already broken.

She alleged that her house was forcibly entered by the robbers, who carted away an estimated P1,283,000 worth of assorted diamond and pearl earrings and bracelets; assorted perfumes worth P50,000; imported cosmetics worth P75,000; a Rolex wristwatch worth P500,000; a branded sling bag worth P78,000; four branded wallets worth P112,500; and cash amounting to P100,000.

The house was probably monitored before the robbers committed the crime, Guadalupe said, adding they are eyeing more than three perpetrators in the incident.

He said they already have persons of interest but he refused to reveal their identities while the investigation is ongoing. (Christopher D. Yanson, CHMSC-Talisay intern)
