Councilor to DPWH: Do not leave road works unfinished

CAGAYAN de Oro City Councilor Teodulfo Lao Jr. has urged the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to be consistent in implementing their projects and not leave it unfinished.

Lao, chairperson of the committee on public utilities, said he noticed that the DPWH is only aggressive at the start of the project, but most of the time, projects are left unfinished causing inconvenience to the public.

This was Lao's reaction before the city council approved the proposal which entails a signing of a memorandum of agreement between City Mayor Oscar Moreno and the DPWH for the implementation of farm to market roads here.

“We need the DPWH to commit that they complete the road projects as scheduled. While we enjoy the 10 percent counterpart fund, we need an assurance from the agency to fully comply and implement its proposed road projects as expected,” Lao said.

Lao urged the City Engineering Office and other government agencies to coordinate with the DPWH to ensure that the timeline of the projects will be followed.

The farm to market road projects will provide farmers in far-flung barangays the access to transport their agricultural products down to the city public markets with ease.
