Derek Ramsay on next career move

“I WILL be signing up again with a network, which I thought I was not gonna do anymore.”

After taking some time off from showbiz, Derek Ramsay confirmed that he is set to return to television in 2019.

The 42-year-old actor said, “Well, I won't mention it right now but something exciting, it's going to happen within the week so it's going to be a great start to next year.”

In 2005 to 2011, Derek was a contract star of ABS-CBN, where he was given breakthrough projects as leading man on television and in movies.

In 2012, Derek decided to sign up with TV5. He remained a Kapatid star until 2018, the year when his contract expired.

In an October 29 interview with Derek, he admitted that he sat down with GMA-7 regarding a possible contract.

However, he requested to begin working with the Kapuso network in 2019.

He said, “I told them na sana next year na mag-umpisa if ever, kasi I want to set my mind na kapag may commitment ako sa inyo ay gusto kong ibigay ang 200 percent. E, ang dami kong ginagawa ngayon.”

During the December 10 interview, Derek said that he will spend the Christmas season to rest before going back to work.

“Well, I am going to celebrate the last few days that I am gonna have off, because I took some time off showbiz, I took a break for about six months. So those days are coming to an end, I am gonna go back to work and so [this] Christmas, I am really gonna enjoy, relax, and spend some time with family, probably in Palawan then back to work with next year.”

Derek was one of the 2018 inductees during the Walk of Fame event held at Eastwood last December 10.

His longtime girlfriend, Joanne Villablanca, was present to witness this milestone in his career.

Derek said, “She knows how important this award is for me so she wants to be a part of it and support me. That's what people do when you're in love right? You are supposed to support each other with everything it is that you do in life.

“She knows that I am very, very proud of myself for receiving this award and she wants to witness it herself that I'm up on stage and I saw her nga while I was up on stage that she's really proud of me. So medyo kilig to the bones and it's amazing, it's always nice to share something like this to people that you love, the people who love you.”
