CASTROL-YOKOHAMA champion drivers Carlos and Iñigo Anton picked up where they left off last year to once again win in the year end endurance races held over the last two weekends of November.

The father-and-son tandem were not teammates this time but still came out victorious in their respective class races.

Carlos drove for the Parts Pro-Carporn Mazda Miata team alongside Ferrari Cup driver Angie King, former formula 3 champion Tyson Sy and Vios Cup champion Allan Uy.

The trio were able to win the 2018 Petron X PEC 8 Oras ng Pilipinas endurance race in the FM1 and FM2 classes putting in over 180 laps around the Clark International Speedway.

“It was great to win this race again but this time it was really down to the last lap since we actually ran out of fuel after crossing the checkered flag. We ran it that close to take the victory,” Carlos said.

The older Anton was also part of the Parts Pro V1 racing team the week before driving the single-seater race car to 2nd place overall all in the TRS Ultra 4 Endurance Race.

This time, Anton was paired up with Tyson Sy and Stefano Marcelo while Baguio Achiever’s Academy grade 9 student Iñigo Anton participated in the Vios 4 hour endurance race alongside young racers Basti Escalante and Elysse Menorca under the Obengers team of Toyota Balintawak.

Iñigo’s team won 3rd overall in the Vios Cup category.

“It was so nice to win using the Vios. It’s the first time I drove the Vios Cup car and it was really fun to drive. I thank team Obengers for sponsoring our ride and I hope to race more in it next year,” the younger Anton said.

A week later, Iñigo drove for the Motorsport Development Program Philippines (MSDP) team under the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) using a Mazda 2 during the PEC 8 hour endurance race.

The younger Anton won the seat last year after being a part of the MSDP program which aims to find young talented drivers and teach them the right steps to becoming good race car drivers. Roderick Osis
