Padilla: Silahis ng Pasko PWDs music fest and palaro

IT IS a red letter day for our city’s persons with disabilities (PWD) today, when they display their talent and skills in the music fest and palaro set at the historic Malcolm Square starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The special day for special people, is another highlight feature of the 45th Anniversary Celebration of the multi-awarded Silahis ng Pasko sa Baguio Christmas Season program, courtesy of the Baguio National Correspondents Club of Baguio (NCCB) and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) in cooperation with the city government.

Competition will focus on amateur singing, instrumentals and a palaro of traditional Pilipino games. Handsome incentive prizes in the adult and children’s divisions are at stake. The chess tournament for the blind will kick off the day’s special offering.

Last Sunday morning, the Baguio City National High School Singing and Dancing Christmas Tree presentation held at the Malcolm Square was another caring and sharing spectacle. The series of Christmas Songs and modern dances displayed by the talented members of the BCNHS Special Program in the Arts led by teacher-advisers Dorris Rullan and Mary Ann dela Cruz were performed with the superb supervision and choreography.

Maraming, maraming salamat to the SLU SVP Housing Cooperative headed by retired Judge Emeterio Manatan and BAMAPCOMM for being the event sponsor, annually for the past many years. We are greatfully grateful for your sponsorship and deep interest in the project.

Later in the afternoon, the famous Philippine Military Academy Band, AFP, entertained music lovers from the city including a cast of foreigners with a Christmas Band Concert, held also at the Square. The band’s one-hour-and-a-half long repertoire of classical music and popular Christmas songs were highly appreciated and enjoyed with commendable gratitude.

Again, thank you to PMA Supt. Lt. Gen. Ronnie Evangelista for his leadership and sustained cooperation in the successful conduct of Silahis ng Pasko sa Baguio 2018.

Merry Christmas to you sir and your family and loved ones and the PMA family as a whole. God Bless!

We have more Silahis ng Pasko sa Baguio fraternal events coming your way. Be part of the celebration!
