AN ORDINANCE making all workplaces in Davao City drug-free will be implemented in 2019.

Davao City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) research adviser Concepcion Dumag said in an interview with SunStar Davao Friday, December 14, that the ordinance, signed this year, was formulated in 2013, however, it was not actively implemented due to lack of implementing rules and regulations.

"The certificate of compliance as to the requirement of mandatory random drug testing in the workplace should be conducted so that those business establishments can renew business permit in 2020," Dumag said.

She said that the additional requirements are random testing and three-year plan on how to implement drug-free workplace program such as preventive education, treatment, and rehabilitation.

"If they could not establish treatment and rehabilitation in their own company they could use the referral system," she added.

She also said that if there are employees positive with illegal drugs, the company can refer them to the council. However, she added that the consequence of the employee or staff will be based on the policies implemented in the workplace.
