A BINIBINING Cebu 2018 candidate was arrested in a drug bust in Cebu City at 2 a.m. Saturday, December 15.

Teri Marina Colmenares, 22, a resident of Barangay Zapatera, Cebu City, was caught by police carrying seven packs of high grade marijuana.

Senior Inspector Dexter Basirgo, Guadalupe Police Station chief, said that Colmenares was nabbed following the arrest of a certain Nicole Allan Casiño.

Casiño, who was arrested in a drug bust in Barangay Apas, Cebu City, identified Colmenares as his source of illegal drugs.

The operation on Casiño was conducted after a disc jockey, who was nabbed for illegal drugs possession, identified him as his source.

Recovered from Casiño were seven pieces of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) or acid, identified as a party drug.

Casiño told police that his source was a Binibining Cebu candidate and even gave the cops Colmenares's mobile phone number, so they can transact with her.

Operatives, led by Basirgo, then set up the drug bust. They texted Colmenares that they will buy illegal drugs worth P3,000.

After Colmenares confirmed the transaction, Basirgo and his operatives then met with her at the parking area of a commercial establishment on Escario Street at 2 a.m.

Colmenares conducted the transaction inside a white Sedan.

But after she noticed that police were conducting the transaction, Colmenares attempted to speed off but failed to do so.

During interrogation, Colmenares refused to tell police were she got the marijuana.

But police believed that Colmenares’s drugs were imported because of their quality.

Colmenares is currently detained at the Cebu City Police Office headquarters in Camp Sotero Cabahug, while Casiño is detained at the Guadalupe Police Station.

Colmenares represented the Municipality of Carmen during this year’s Binibining Cebu held last October. She made it to the top 25.

The Binibining Cebu organization, for its part, refused to comment on what happened to Colmenares, saying it’s a personal matter. From AYB of Superbalita Cebu / JKV
