THE Davao Medical School Foundation (DMSF) will construct a 12-story hospital building by 2019.

“We're putting up a 10-story [structure] but it has a helipad so another story plus ‘yung basement niya isa kaya 12-story siya,” DMSF president doctor Jonathan Alegre said in an interview with SunStar Davao.

Alegre added the new hospital building will house 120 doctors' clinics and the helipad which will have an elevator connecting to the operating theater for patients who will be transported via aerial transports and would need quick assistance.

The first phase of the construction, which would include the shell and foundation construction, will start early next year and is estimated to cost P390 million.

He said they will also have 11 world-class operating theaters. With the new facilities, they assured that no microorganisms will thrive in operating rooms because of the new technology to be installed like the laminar flow air conditioners causing cleaner and more sterile air. This will be less work for the staff since they would not need to excessively clean the rooms as the laminar flow air conditioner sterilizes the room already.

Alegre added the modernized operating theater has one-touch operating computer which the doctor can use to adjust room services such as the light and the music.

The modular operating theater will also use “unbreakable glass” from Poland which had been tested to survive through earthquakes.

Meanwhile, the construction of the DMSF Anatomy lab has already started in October 2018 and will open by the second quarter of 2019. The laboratory will have different anatomy specimens imported from Taiwan. He added the laboratory will be open to their students and scheduled visiting students of other schools.
