City's transport modernization project final report endorsed

DAVAO City Councilor Jesus Joseph Zozobrado, Committee on public works and highways head, endorsed the adoption of final report and implementation of Davao public transport modernization project.

Zozbrado reported before the 18th City Council Friday, December 14, that the final report consists of project background, economic and financial assessment, project financing agreements, procurement plan, and environmental safeguard documentation, among others.

“The proposed project will deliver a modern, highly-prioritized public transport operating system for Davao City,” Zozobrado said.

“Providing an attractive, efficient, and affordable mode of transport that will support inclusive economic growth for all the city's inhabitants,” he added.

The executing agency of the proposed project will be the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the city government will be the implementing agency, and Asian Development Bank as the lending agency.

Zozobrado said that the project aims to improve the public transport system, strengthen institutional capacity and deliver social development program.

The system will comprise 29 bus routes to avoid traffic congestion in the city. (LHC)
