Don't Snooze on Your Rights: A labor seminar for night workers

THE second year Law students of the University of San Carlos (USC), in partnership with the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP), are organizing a labor Seminar and legal clinic entitled: “Be Alarmed: Don’t Snooze on Your Rights!” at the Mezzo Hotel, President Quezon Street, Mabolo, Cebu City, on December 17, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The labor seminar aims to inform the workers, especially those working at night, about their legal rights, the different ways they can protect these rights, and the different avenues where they can assert these rights.

Among the topics to be discussed are the hiring, employment, and night workers’ right to self-organization, wages, labor standards, benefits, and the National Labor Relations Commission’s Mindset in adjudicating illegal dismissal cases and small claims.

The organizers have invited speakers who are well-versed and knowledgeable in the field of Labor Law, namely Bar topnotchers lawyer Christianne Mae C. Balili-Largo and lawyer Marie Chielo H. Ybio of ACCRALAW, and NLRC Commissioner Nendell Hanz Abella.

A legal clinic program is also available on the same day wherein law students can personally attend to the participants who wish to be assisted more in their legal matters concerning their employment.

The seminar and the legal clinic are free of charge, and certificates will be given to the participants.
