MANGUINDANAO Representative Zajid Mangudadatu said their family is hoping to get the needed justice for victims of the Maguindanao massacre that killed 58 individuals, including his sister-in-law, sisters, lawyers, and media practitioners, by end of December 2018 or early next year.
He was in La Carlota City on Sunday, December 16, along with Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos.
Mangudadato said his advocacy includes the possible breaking of the barriers between the Muslims and Christians.
“I just want to change the perceptions of our Christian brothers and sisters towards the Muslims. This is what President Rodrigo Duterte wants me to do which is to find ways to unite the Muslims and Christians. This is now the right time to unite,” he said.
As to the extension of martial law in Mindanao, he said the extension of military rule in Mindanao would help address the proliferation of illegal firearms there.
“It helps a lot in disciplining its citizens. I would even support if martial law would stay. No military officer or personnel who was caught abusing martial law so its implementation is smooth and orderly,” he said.
Mangudadatu is the brother of Maguindanao Governor Esmael Mangudadatu.
He said his battle cry “Imagine Peace” means he has to initiate efforts for us to attain genuine peace in the country.
“What if we have genuine peace and there will be no rebellious fighting between Muslims and Christians? It can help achieve our goals and our dreams for our country. We are hoping that our country will become a more livable country in the world,” he said. (CNC)
