PRESYONG Risonable Dapat (PRD) program of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) was launched in Puregold last Friday, December 14.

The launch was led by DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez (4th from L) and Puregold chairman Lucio Co (4th from R).

This makes commercial well-milled rice available in all 83 Puregold branches in Metro Manila and Luzon and soon in all 360 outlets nationwide.

The DTI’s PRD program is in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA), National Food Authority (NFA) and participating retailers, aiming to bring quality rice at retail points at P38 and below to help fight inflation.

The PRD program allows retailers and importers with direct access to retail outlets to import rice and sell it directly to the retail stores, eliminating the layers of traders in between.

The Puregold branches are in addition to the 163 Robinsons Supermarkets where the PRD program as recently launched offering cheaper but good quality well-milled rice available as low as Php 34 per kilo. Other retailers like Metro Gaisano, SM, Rustans will also be launched soon.

Also present in the launch were DTI Undersecretary Ruth Castelo (3rd from L), Puregold president Vincent Co (5th from L), Puregold vice president for Operations Antonio Delos Santos (2nd from R) and regional manager Joseph Sy (rightmost), NFA director Carlito Co (leftmost) and Mandaluyong City Councilor Charisse Abalos (3rd from R).
