Baguio, Dingalan town seal sisterhood accord

BAGUIO City sealed its sisterhood relationship with Dingalan town in Aurora province in ceremonies held December 12.

Dingalan Mayor Shierwin Taay signed the twinning accord with Councilor Elmer Datuin and Secretary to the Mayor George Fortea who represented Mayor Mauricio Domogan.

Taay expressed appreciation and excitement over the prospects of exploring a friendship accord with the city.

He and the rest of the Dingalan delegation were treated to cultural presentations and briefings on the city’s status and activities during the program.

Dingalan is the latest in the city’s long list of local and international sister cities.

The sisterhood relation opens avenues for exchanges between the two local government units in the fields of tourism, governance, agriculture, trade and commerce, education, technology, cultural preservation and the arts.

In October, the city council approved a resolution accepting Dingalan’s sisterhood proposal.

The resolution authored by Councilor Datuin said the city can reciprocate the gesture and develop a harmonious relationship and promote exchanges of best practices among the officials and people of the two local governments.

Dingalan, in Resolution No. 2018-700, signified its willingness to establish sisterhood with the city noting that as the younger and smaller LGU, it will benefit from the possible exchanges with the city in terms of learning on government administration and other fields that will help in spurring growth and development in the town.

Dingalan is a fourth-class municipality in the southernmost part of Aurora Province at the foot of the Sierra Madre Mountains and is generally hilly and mountainous with a total area of 30,455 square kilometers.

It has a population of 25,482 people whose livelihood is agriculture and fishery. (PR)
