Oro City Hall employees pass mandatory drug test

CITY Councilor Romeo Calizo declared the City Hall as drug-free with all its employees tested negative for drug use.

Calizo, the chairperson of the committee on police, fire, and public safety as well as the chairman for the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac) said based on the results of the mandatory drug tests they recently conducted, no one was found positive in illegal drugs use.

"This is based on the mandatory drug tests, and based on our monitoring also, no more pushers and users," Calizo said.

Calizo said, early this year, there have been a few who tested positive but the City Government made sure that appropriate actions are taken to hold them liable.

Aside from filing of cases, Calizo said the city also made sure that the employee will get the necessary rehabilitation they need to get back on track.

"We will continue our drug tests because this is a circular coming from the Civil Service, it should be done continuously, periodically, and it is mandatory and we also included the element of surprise to ensure relevant results," he added.

In April this year, two City Hall employees were arrested in separate drug busts. One was a traffic enforcer and the other an employee of the City Public Services Office (CPSO).

In June, another employee was arrested by the police's City Drug Enforcement Unit in Barangay Balulang. He was employed under the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD).
