THE Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Division (ID) said 30 regular members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were killed from January to December 12 during armed encounters while 43 rebels were apprehended in their area of responsibility, an official said.

Captain Jerry Lamosao, chief of the 10th ID Division Public Affairs Office (DPAO), said this accomplishment is a concerted effort with their counterparts in the Philippine National Police (PNP) during various law enforcement operation and reports from concerned citizen.

Apart from that, there were a total of 10 members of Militia ng Bayan who were arrested, three supporters, and 25 left leaning organization members.

The army noted less harassment incidents from the reds wherein projects in the far flung areas like building of schools and construction of farm to market roads were implemented without equipment being burned.

“With their numbers dwindling because of surrenderees, there were no more harassment,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) noted 112 encounters with the NPAs since January. A total of 419 firearms have already been surrendered while a total of 263 improvised explosive devices (IED) were seized. Also a total of 118 encampments were discovered 118.

The army also reported 524 regular NPA members, 700 Militia ng Bayan members, 256 members of Sangay sa Partido sa Localidad, and 6,242 underground mass organization members have surrendered.

He attributed these accomplishments to the active support of the local government units (LGU) and its local executive as well as the Enhance Comprehensive Local Integration Program (Eclip).
