THE People’s Republic of China donated 110 hospital beds worth P2.75 million to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) on Monday, Dec. 17.
Chinese Consul General Jia Li, who led the turnover ceremony, said the help from his government is a way of strengthening the relationship between his country and the Philippines.
“It is the symbol of our true friendship,” he said in his speech.
Jia said the Chinese Consulate in Cebu will continue to help Cebu City in the future.
For his part, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña thanked the Chinese government’s generosity and promised that the new CCMC on Natalio Bacalso Ave. will be operational before the midterm elections in May 13 next year.
CCMC Hospital Administrator Kenneth Siasar is grateful to the Chinese government for acting fast on their request for hospital beds in the first quarter of this year. He said they do not have funds in their capital outlay for this year.
Siasar said they also requested P100 million worth of equipment, including eight beds and lights for eight operating rooms in CCMC. He said the consul general assured him that the Chinese government will prioritize his new requests. (from PAC of SuperBalita Cebu/KAL)
