OVER 50 women leaders from Negros Occidental are attending a training on “Revisiting Feminism and Gender and Development (GAD)” and a forum on “Women Rights are Human Rights” on December 18, at Clan Anne in 12th Aguinaldo Street, Bacolod City.
Marie June Pavillar-Castro, chair of Pilipina-Bacolod/Negros Occidental chapter, said the training on feminism and GAD, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. with Dr. Richelle Verdeprado, head of the Social Work Department of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and founder and chair of the Sowing Legacy Movement, as resource person.
Meanwhile, lawyer Chel Diokno, chair of the Free-Legal
Assistance Group, will be the speaker in the forum from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
More than 50 sectoral leaders are also expected to join the afternoon forum.
Castro added the activities are part of their “Strengthening Women’s Voices to Promote Democratic Values: Piloting of Local Leadership Formation and Training” project, which is supported by the National Endowment for Democracy. (PR)
