Capitol employee dead during Christmas party

NEGROS Occidental Acting Provincial Administrator Lucille Gelvolea confirmed on Monday, December 17, that a Provincial Government employee died after experiencing a heart attack during their Christmas party on December 14 at the Capitol grounds.

Gelvolea identified the employee as Gary Oyos who is currently assigned in the Provincial Accounting Office.

“It was already a second stroke. He was immediately brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital and died around midnight of December 14,” Gelvolea said.

Gelvolea said that Oyos will receive funeral benefits from the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees.

He will also be given his terminal leave credits and benefits from the Government Service Insurance System.

Meanwhile, Gelvolea said that the Provincial Budget Officer is still determining the additional bonus of Capitol employees for the Excellence Award received by the province.

The additional bonus is on top of the P50,000 extra bonus released by the province to permanent and casual employees.
