Muay Thai group holds 3-day training in Sagada

A COMBINATION of Muay Thai skills training for coaches and martial arts instructors with the involvement of an open training for the community was recently held in Sagada, Mountain Province.

The event, organized by the SitKruSane-Philippines, aimed to help the community through combative sports.

SitKruSane-Philippines is an accredited chapter of the Muay Thai Association of the Philippines, a member of the National Sports Association and a non-profit organization advocating the art of Muay Thai boran.

Brendaley Tarnate, head instructor of the SitKruSane-Philippines, said the regular conduct of regular trainings is part of the continuing development for their instructors.

The three-day training, which commenced December 14 to 16 seeks to give upgraded skills and knowledge to Muay Thai instructors joining the training and aim to make the short stay productive by partnering with local government to conduct the three-day training sessions with school children and teachers of the community, including tour guides, officials and interested residents.

“This is the first time we conduct this kind of training here in the Philippines. Nagconduct na kami noon pero para lang sa participant members,” she added.

Muay Thai coaches and other martial arts instructors underwent a three-day session training composed of the introduction to the fundamentals and values of the sport as self-defense, fitness exercise and profession to the indigenous communities.

Tarnate added through the training, they remain optimistic to help start a Sagada Muay Thai Team to represent the town in inter school competitions, local and international events, involve the community in continuous and regular physical fitness and for the community to be equipped with an introduce program that they can easily follow and make as part of their regular early morning activity.

Training lecture dubbed as the ‘Sagada Muaythai Adventure 2018’ includes arts of defensive tactics, counter attack for punch, counter attack for kick among others with the open training for the community involves values of Muaythai, strength and conditioning, stances, basic punches, pad works, basic kicks, basic knee and elbow strikes, basic clinching, and review on all strikes.

SitKruSane, has 200 active members from Baguio - Benguet and other countries like Thailand, Italy, Germany, Greece, and China.
