Davao mayor assures 2019 pay hike

DESPITE the rejection to the request of the city government employees for additional bonuses this year, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio assured a salary increase by 2019.

“Tanang (all) job orders (JOs) and contracts of service (COS) are approved in the 2019 annual budget of the City Government of Davao that no JOs and COS personnel will receive below P10,000 salary,” Duterte-Carpio told reporters Monday, December 17, 2018.

“Gi-adjust namo ang tanan rates. Everybody will have an increase in rates kay para dili mawala ang ladderized amount sa ilang rate (We adjusted their rates and everybody will have an increase in rates so that the ladderized amount of their rates will be continued),” she added.

Duterte-Carpio also said that the increase will not affect the volunteers as the city is only giving them allowances like the Bantay-Bukid and Bantay-Dagat who have been receiving P2,000 a month.

The volunteers, however, will receive an increase of P500 every month as additional to their allowances.

With the request of the city government employees for Duterte-Carpio to sign for additional incentives, she said that she needed to refuse because there is no reason for an additional bonus.

She also said that the city even failed in the Seal of Good Local Governance and the Anti-Red Tape Act so the employees will just get the P25,000 each as bonus approved in the City Council under Supplemental Budget 2 with the approved amount of more than P618 million. (LHC)
