NON-PROFIT organization Citizens’ Action for Underprivileged Students (CAUSe) is spearheading calls to support indigent youth following its launching last week.
Batch 1994 alumnus of Baguio City National High School started the group which seeks to support financially challenged youth who have the potential to be great students and leaders in the community.
“Paying it forward program aims to bring integrity to youths who are unattended by our institutions, will never be able to create a better future for themselves. Our program designed to provide subsidence aid to youths, from Grade 7 to 12,” said chairperson Eileen Bolaza.
The program includes everyday meals three times a day for an entire year in the next six years, school uniform, and other necessities.
“This will assure their parents that their children do not need to work so they can eat, that their parents can continue working without pressuring their children to do the same thing,” said Bolaza.
Following the launching on December 15, Bolaza added the group plans to further raise funds for the program with budget per student that requires P100,000.
“We want to see the first graduate student supported by the batch. We eyed students for the program, we are still in coordination with the principals of the schools,” stated Bolaza.
Baguio City Congressman Mark Go and Retired Police General Benjamin Magalong both commended the group and urged participation from fellow graduates of BCNHS, the biggest public school in the city.
Both expressed commitment to support the program.
The two also urged the organization to broaden the scope of the cause and for students to go to school and finish their education as means of battling poverty.
